Rookwood Holdout Sells for $1.25 million

Well it finally happened.  The sad lone house in the empty field across from Rookwood has sold.  Joe Horney bought that house for $63,900 in 1991 and yesterday reached a deal with Rookwood partners for $1.25 million.

Norwood tried to take all those homes by eminent domain and a few homes held out and took their case to the Ohio Supreme Court- and won.  However Horney’s house has been boarded up and vacant and the entire area is surrounded by a chain link fence.  With the sale, the way is now clear for the area to be developed.
